Kelleher Group Maintenance Ltd is an established M&E, Building, Gas and Specialist Works contractor with nearly 40 years of experience delivering high-quality maintenance and improvement works.
We work across a range of domestic, commercial and social housing properties, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance services.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Painter & Decorator to join our team.
The Role
This is a mobile role carrying out painting, decorating and making-good works across a variety of properties.
You will predominantly work within occupied social housing properties, so we are looking for someone who is not only an experienced decorator but also professional, respectful and confident communicating with residents.
The work is varied and can range from small reactive repairs and making-good works through to complete room redecoration.
You will be provided with a company vehicle, fuel card, company phone and uniform, with materials and purchasing expenses covered by the company.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Carrying out high-quality painting and decorating works in domestic and commercial properties
- Completing both minor decorating repairs and full-room redecoration
- Preparing walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces prior to decoration
- Making good areas following maintenance and repair works
- Repairing and redecorating damaged, flaking or water-stained walls and ceilings
- Treating and redecorating areas affected by mould or damp
- Attending reactive maintenance jobs, including making good following leaks and water damage
- Completing minor filling, surface repairs and preparation works
- Carrying out patch plastering where competent to do so
- Protecting residents' belongings, flooring and surrounding areas while completing works
- Leaving properties clean and tidy following completion
- Taking before and after photographs and accurately recording completed works
- Updating jobs through the company PDA/job management system
- Communicating any additional works, materials or concerns identified while on site
- Providing a professional and courteous service to residents and clients at all times
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and to a high standard
About You
We are looking for an experienced tradesperson who takes pride in the quality of their work and can be trusted to work independently in residents' homes.
You should be:
- Experienced in all aspects of painting and decorating
- Able to achieve a consistently high-quality finish
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Professional when working within occupied properties
- Comfortable working independently and managing your daily workload
- Confident communicating with residents, clients and office staff
- Able to work within a fast-paced reactive maintenance environment
- Comfortable using a smartphone/PDA to receive jobs, provide updates, upload photographs and complete job sheets
- Proactive with a positive, can-do approach
- Able to identify and communicate additional works or repairs where required
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' professional painting and decorating experience
- Full, valid UK driving licence
- Experience across a range of painting and decorating works
- Strong preparation and finishing skills
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to use a smartphone and electronic job management/PDA system
- Ability to travel between jobs throughout the working day
Desirable
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 in Painting & Decorating or equivalent
- Previous social housing experience
- Previous reactive maintenance experience
- Patch plastering experience
- Experience working within occupied residential properties
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm, including travelling time.
Occasional weekend or out-of-hours work may be available or required depending on operational and client requirements.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a DBS check due to the nature of the properties and environments in which we work.

A full UK driving licence is mandatory for this position.
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
