Job Overview
We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Bakery & Barista Assistant to join the team at Amelia Elizabeth Cakes, a brand-new independent cake shop opening in St Annes.
This is a varied role combining front-of-house customer service, artisan drinks and coffee making, and bakery support, so we’re looking for someone who loves working with people but also has a genuine interest in baking and being part of a busy bakery environment.
About Amelia Elizabeth Cakes
Amelia Elizabeth Cakes is an independent cake shop opening in St Annes, specialising in beautiful cakes and bakes alongside great coffee and artisan drinks.
We’re building a small, friendly team where everyone plays a part. This would suit someone who wants to be involved in more than just serving behind a counter and would enjoy learning about the bakery side of the business too.
The role
Most of your time will be spent front of house, where you’ll be responsible for:
- Welcoming customers and providing friendly, professional service
- Taking orders and operating the till
- Preparing and serving coffees and artisan drinks
- Serving cakes, bakes and other products
- Keeping displays looking full, fresh and beautifully presented
- Restocking throughout the day
- Clearing tables and maintaining a clean, welcoming shop
- Completing daily cleaning and hygiene tasks
- Helping with opening and closing duties
As a small independent bakery, everyone gets involved. During quieter periods front of house, you’ll also support in the kitchen with tasks such as:
- Preparing ingredients and weighing out recipes
- Assisting with baking and decorating
- Preparing products for the counter
- Packaging and labelling orders
- General kitchen preparation and cleaning
You don’t need to be a professional baker, but a genuine passion for baking is important. We’d love someone who is excited to learn, get involved and develop their skills as the business grows.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is warm, friendly and confident with customers
- Has a genuine interest in cakes, baking and coffee
- Is reliable, organised and hardworking
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Takes pride in cleanliness and presentation
- Is happy working in both front-of-house and kitchen environments
- Can work independently and as part of a small team
- Is comfortable working in a busy environment and switching between different tasks
- Is available to work 5 days per week, Tuesday to Saturday
Previous café, barista, hospitality or bakery experience would be an advantage, but the right attitude, personality and willingness to learn are just as important.
Working pattern
5 days per week: Tuesday–Saturday
This role will include daytime shifts and Saturdays, so applicants must be able to reliably work this pattern.
