About the role
We are looking to recruit a number of Assistant EHCP Casework Officers to join our Statutory Assessment Team (SAT) and support our Assessment, Review and Complex Case Resolution teams. These important roles play a key part in helping children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities receive the support they need by ensuring Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment and review processes progress efficiently and within statutory timescales. Working alongside EHCP Casework Officers, you will act as a key point of contact for families, schools and professionals, helping to coordinate casework, maintain accurate records, monitor progress against deadlines, and provide timely updates and support throughout the EHC process. This is an excellent opportunity for organised, compassionate and proactive individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality services for children, young people and their families.
For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Katy Blessett on 07483 400879 or [email protected]
What will you be doing?
As an Assistant EHCP Caseworker, you will work alongside EHCP Casework Officers to support the statutory functions relating to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment, review and complex case processes. You will help coordinate and progress casework in line with statutory requirements, acting as a key point of contact for families, schools and professionals to provide updates, respond to enquiries and ensure effective communication throughout the process. The role includes monitoring the progress of assessments and annual reviews, maintaining accurate case records, preparing information for SEND panels, and working closely with colleagues to ensure statutory deadlines are met. You will play an important role in enabling the service to run efficiently, supporting children and young people with SEND and helping families navigate the EHC process with confidence and reassurance.
About you
We are looking for compassionate, organised and proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with families, schools and professionals, handling enquiries with empathy, sensitivity and professionalism. You will be confident managing a varied workload, have strong organisational skills and attention to detail, and be able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be a team player who can use their initiative, analyse information from a range of sources, and communicate complex processes clearly and confidently. Most importantly, you will be committed to delivering a high-quality, child-centred service and helping families navigate the EHCP process with understanding and reassurance.
About us
Cambridgeshire is a great place to work and live with a diverse population, an urban centre in Cambridge, historic Isle of Ely, Huntingdon and St Ives as well as more rural landscapes.
Our four values are central to our culture, driving everything we do.
We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to be reflective of this diversity, which we firmly believe benefits our colleagues, the organisation and our communities. If you don’t meet every single requirement in the job role but think this could be you, please don’t be put off. We are committed to building a workplace that is compassionate and inclusive as well as diverse, so if you think you could be a good candidate for this role please consider applying and speak to the recruiting manager if you have any questions.
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self-organised peer support groups help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. We collect relevant diversity data for monitoring as part of the recruitment process to understand the diversity of our applicants and monitor any trends throughout the recruitment processes so that we can take meaningful action.
We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader. We fully support providing reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process, as well as when you join us, and we encourage candidates to contact the Hiring Manager, whose details can be found in the advert, to discuss any adjustment needs. Through a Guaranteed Interview Scheme, we will offer an interview to all applicants who disclose a disability and meet the essential criteria for a job vacancy. On your application form you can indicate you are disabled. Some examples of reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process could include additional time to complete an assessment or printing a document on pastel coloured paper with larger font size and line spacing. We would value talking about what might be possible to enable you to join us and thrive, so if there is something that would help you to do your best during your journey with us, please get in touch.
