About the Role
Set in the tranquil village of Newnham, Old House at Home is a highly rated, traditional countryside pub located in an affluent area, close by to Tylney Hall and the neighbouring historic villages of Odiham and Old Basing. Under new family ownership since November 2025, we have a vision to provide guests with warm, local hospitality and exceptional, locally sourced food and drinks in a cosy, community-inspired setting.
Building an enthusiastic, passionate team with a focus on quality and first-class customer service is a priority and we are looking for enthusiastic, sociable and reliable bar/waiting staff to join our friendly team and help shape our customer experience. As a member of our front of house team, you will play a pivotal role in making guests feel welcome while helping to create a warm atmosphere and memorable experiences.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in line with our approved recipes and high standards. Demonstrate knowledge to customers regarding beverages offered.
· Ensure the bar area is kept clean and tidy at all times and ensure compliance with food safety and allergens regulations.
· Take accurate food and drink orders at the table, engaging with customers while demonstrating knowledge of seasonal menus and providing recommendations where required.
· Ensure tables are cleared, cleaned and reset as soon as customers depart.
· Handle cash and card transactions using our POS system (full training provided).
· Engage with kitchen team members to ensure high quality customer service and efficient delivery of food to the table.
· Replenish bar supplies/stock as needed.
· Maintain high standards of customer service, going the extra mile to ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued.
Requirements
· Applicants must be at least 18 years of age (or be turning 18 by December 2026)
· Previous experience working in a restaurant or bar setting is preferable but enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a friendly, sociable personality is a must.
· Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to connect with guests and deliver exceptional customer service.
· Punctual and reliable with the outstanding time management skills required to excel in a busy restaurant and bar setting.
· Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods while still upholding high standards of service.
· Knowledge around allergens and food safety is helpful but full training given.
· Team player – able to work with a small team, use initiative and demonstrate a positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
· Attention to detail – with a focus on timely delivery and excellent presentation to ensure a positive guest experience.
· Own transport helpful due to rural location (unless local).
