Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Family Support Worker to provide vital assistance to families within our community. The successful candidate will work closely with children, offering guidance, support, and practical help to promote stability and well-being. This role is essential in fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children and ensuring families receive the necessary resources and encouragement to thrive. The position is paid, offering valuable experience in family support services.
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional and practical support to children and their families in a residential setting.
- Assist children with daily routines, including organising activities, meal planning, and managing behaviour.
- Support children’s educational needs by encouraging participation in learning activities.
- Collaborate with social workers, healthcare professionals, and community organisations to coordinate services for families.
- Monitor and record progress of children and families, maintaining accurate documentation of interactions and interventions.
- Promote positive relationships within the household by modelling respectful communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Organise engaging activities that foster development, confidence, and social skills among children.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with children and families.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable individuals.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a supportive environment.
- Relevant qualifications or training in social work, childcare, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
