R G Bassett & Sons is a long-established, forward-thinking family Business, offering quality-assured road transport and palletised distribution services to our valued clients throughout the UK. We are looking to recruit a Fork Lift Truck driver to work on our noon shift (14:00 - 22.00hrs Monday to Friday), loading and offloading delivery vehicles and trailers, using a Counterbalance FLT, and shunting delivery vehicles into position for loading/offloading. Overtime is available on some Saturday mornings, and to cover holiday/sickness absences.
Fork Lift Truck Driver – Job Description
Working in a fast-paced warehouse environment, this position will involve:
- The completion of daily vehicle checks, and the reporting of defects, as applicable.
- Loading delivery vehicles and trailers, mainly with palletised goods, in accordance with the loading manifest, or hub loading instructions .
- Offloading goods from inbound vehicles, and storing/reloading, as appropriate.
- Liaison with the Traffic team regarding loading/offloading queries.
- Yard shunting - moving vehicles and trailers to/from their required loading/offloading locations - full training will be given to applicants without previous experience.
- Occasional container offloading
- Working in accordance with the Company’s Operating Procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have an RTITB/ITSSAR accredited Counterbalance FLT license and have experience of working in a pallet network or fast-paced warehouse environment. Reach truck experience would also be beneficial, for work in our narrow-aisle long-term storage warehouse. Additionally, vehicle/trailer shunting experience would be an advantage, but training can be given to the successful candidate, if required.
