The Role
As Senior Bookkeeper, you will manage bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and deadlines are met.
You will act as a key point of contact for clients, providing advice and support on day-to-day bookkeeping matters and helping businesses maintain robust financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
- Processing sales and purchase ledger transactions.
- Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Producing management accounts and financial reports.
- Liaising directly with clients regarding bookkeeping and accounting queries.
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation.
- Maintaining accurate records using cloud-based accounting software.
- Supporting junior team members and reviewing work where required.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies for clients.
Essential
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
- Strong knowledge of VAT returns and bookkeeping principles.
- Experience using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and client-facing abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
Desirable
- AAT qualification or equivalent.
- Experience producing management accounts.
- Payroll experience.
- Xero Advisor or QuickBooks certification.
