Job Title: Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Engineer

The Role:
We are looking for a skilled Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Engineer to join our workshop team. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of hydraulic cylinder maintenance, from initial fault diagnosis and stripping down components to precise reassembly and pressure testing. This role is vital for ensuring our clients' heavy machinery remains operational with minimal downtime.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
· Diagnosis & Inspection: Identify root causes of malfunctions, such as seal wear, weld leaks, or damaged chrome on rods and cylinder bores.
· Assembly & Fitting: Build and assemble hydraulic cylinders and sub-assemblies according to technical drawings and schematics.
· Repair & Refurbishment: Strip down units, drain oil, and replace defective parts like seals, hoses, and valves.
· Testing: Conduct critical pressure testing, flushing, and leak checks to ensure assemblies meet performance specifications.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
· Safety & Housekeeping: Adhere to strict health and safety (HSEQ) guidelines and maintain a clean, organized workshop environment.
Requirements& Skills
· Experience: Proven hands-on experience in mechanical fitting and hydraulic repair (ideally 2–5 years).
· Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
· Manual Dexterity: Skilled in using hand and power tools, torque tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment.
· Problem Solving: Strong fault-finding skills and a methodical approach to complex repairs.
· Qualifications: Completion of a relevant apprenticeship (Level 2 or 3 in Engineering Fitter or Maintenance) or equivalent vocational training.
· Personal Attributes: Excellent attention to detail, a "can-do" attitude, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Working hours: Mon – Thurs 07:45 – 16:45. Fri 07:45 – 13:45
