We work with a large client base of solicitors, law firms and legal organisations across the UK, providing access to highly experienced medical experts who prepare independent medico-legal reports for a wide range of legal matters.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Recruitment Consultant to join our team. This is a relationship-focused role with a strong emphasis on business development, client management and ensuring our panel of medical experts remains fully utilised by securing a consistent pipeline of high-quality instructions.

The Role
We are looking for a confident, motivated and relationship-driven Recruitment Consultant to develop and maintain strong partnerships with solicitors, law firms and other legal professionals across the UK.
You will work closely with legal professionals to understand their expert witness requirements and connect them with the most appropriate medical experts from our nationwide panel. By developing a thorough understanding of our experts' specialties, experience and availability, you will help ensure clients receive the highest level of service while supporting the effective utilisation of our expert panel.
Success in this role comes from developing trusted relationships, understanding clients' ongoing needs, identifying opportunities to generate repeat business and ensuring our medical experts receive a consistent flow of appropriate work.
Working closely with operational teams, you will help maximise the utilisation of our expert panel while delivering an exceptional client experience and contributing directly to the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities1. Business Development & Client Relationships
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with solicitors, law firms and other legal professionals to maximise repeat business and generate new opportunities.
- Deliver an exceptional client experience through professional, knowledgeable and responsive communication, positioning the organisation as the preferred provider of expert witness services.
- Develop existing accounts by understanding clients' ongoing requirements and promoting the full range of medical expert services available.
- Maintain regular contact with prospective and existing clients by telephone, email and networking activities to build trust and strengthen relationships.
- Represent the organisation professionally at networking events, conferences and other industry meetings where appropriate.
2. Expert Utilisation & Commercial Growth
- Develop a thorough understanding of the expertise, availability and capacity of our nationwide panel of medical experts.
- Work closely with internal teams to match client demand with expert availability, ensuring doctors remain well utilised and instructions are allocated appropriately.
- Monitor client activity, instruction trends and expert utilisation, identifying opportunities to improve performance and support business growth.
- Support the expansion of new and existing service lines by generating the appropriate volume and type of medico-legal instructions.
3. Research, Administration & Communication
- Research prospective clients and maintain accurate CRM records, including contact details, communications and business development activity.
- Handle incoming enquiries professionally and confidentially while ensuring all follow-up actions are completed promptly.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to deliver an efficient, organised and seamless service to both clients and medical experts.
- Provide regular updates and commercial insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
About YouEssential
- Previous experience in recruitment, business development, sales, account management or client relationship management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with solicitors and other senior professionals.
- Commercially minded, proactive and motivated by developing new business opportunities and growing existing client relationships.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated, professional and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a growing business.
Desirable
- Experience within legal recruitment, healthcare recruitment or the medico-legal sector.
- Knowledge of the legal or professional services environment.
- Experience managing key client accounts or working within a business development role.
- Experience attending networking events and building long-term client relationships.
