Mekatek Limited – Rhymney - Tredegar
Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting additional Mechanical Fitters/Engineers to our Workshop team in Rhymney. Our workshops provide mechanical, electrical and plant maintenance for our Operations Team.
Essentially, the successful applicant will join the Maintenance Team to ensure that planned preventive maintenance is carried out overnight and to assist with breakdowns and /or blockages etc. to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum. Anyone with industrial electrical qualifications and/or experience with recycling machinery will be a distinct advantage.
We operate a shift Rota one week Afternoon shift and one week Night Shift. Alternatively, we will consider night shift only.
Schedules:
Monday to Thursday Nights 22.00 to 06.30, Friday 17.30 - 02.00
Monday to Friday Afternoons 14.00 to 22.30
40 hours per week plus overtime as required (after 40 hours worked per week)
We require someone with ideally at least 2 years’ experience
Key responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance across the site.
- Ensure all machines are safe and fit for purpose, this will include pre use checks and tool changes.
- Perform planned and routine maintenance, fault finding and repairs.
- Actively promote safe working practices.
- Work with Contractors where applicable.
- Undertake repairs and servicing to a high standard in accordance with work requests and predetermined specifications.
- Effectively communicate within the maintenance team and relevant parties.
- Ensure maintenance records are filled in accurately so the machine information is kept up to date.
- Continuously look for improvements to the service and for effective good practice within the role.
Health & Safety
- Comply with safe systems of work for the task in line with organisational procedures and work to the system.
Ideal applicants should possess some of the following skills:
- Proven Mechanical Skills (required)
- Electrical skills an advantage
- Experience in conveyors, shredders, and recycling equipment an advantage
- FLT and MEWP training an advantage – Training available on site
- Ability to work under pressure and work to deadlines and achieve targets
- Ability to work unsupervised and as a team
Job Type: Full-time
Starting Salary: £34, 320, rising to £35,818 after 3 months and £36,836.80 successful completion of the 6 month probationary period. A shift allowance will be paid per annum of £1,200 in addition to salary.
