S&A Group is the UK’s largest independent strawberry grower. The Group, which also has berry-growing operations overseas, uses modern and innovative growing techniques to drive and support its thriving year-round soft fruit import business.
We now have a new opportunity for a full-time, permanent vacancy in our Technical department. To support the technical team with day-to-day food safety, quality assurance, and compliance across the site. A key part of this role is acting as the technical point of contact for 1-2 UK Retail accounts, ensuring all customer line details, specs, and raw material compliance date are entirely up to date. The role requires a proactive, flexible approach, to handle fast-moving retail requests and work closely with the production and commercial teams to keep everything running smoothly.
The main duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist with internal audits, monitoring factory compliance with food safety/hygiene standards.
- Be the Technical point of contact for 1-2 UK Retail accounts, following a handover period.
- Manage customer line details in conjunction with the commercial team to ensure production have up to date information in a timely manner.
- Assist with supplier approval and raw material compliance, ensuring specifications and food safety documentation are correct.
- Familiarity with complaint investigations, non-conformance management, and corrective actions.
- Provide support to the wider team and systems (such as the labelling system) when required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Technical knowledge: Understanding of food safety legislation
- Problem solving skills and solution focus
- Systems Thinking, approach & understanding: Competent in Microsoft Office applications and technical reporting systems.
- Communication: Selects appropriate communication method based on the needs and sophistication of the target;
- Working Style: Confidence to work under own supervision and directly with business teams in a fast-paced environment demanding rapid change
