Senior Gas Engineer – Future Operations Manager Opportunity

TimesGroup Ltd is a growing nationwide Mechanical & Electrical contractor delivering reactive maintenance, planned maintenance and small works projects across commercial and residential properties.
Due to continued growth and a strong existing client base, we are looking to recruit an experienced Gas Engineer who is ambitious and looking to progress into a management role.

We are forecasting significant growth within our Facilities Management Division over the next 6–12 months and are seeking someone who wants more than just a "tools" role.
The successful candidate will initially operate as a Senior Gas Engineer, with the intention of fast-tracking into a managerial position within approximately six months.
This opportunity would suit an experienced engineer who is looking to reduce time on the tools and become involved in:
- Managing engineers and subcontractors.
- Quoting and estimating small works.
- Client reporting and communication.
- Job planning and resource allocation.
- Supporting the growth of the division.
- Developing operational procedures and standards.
- Providing technical support to engineers.
The Role
This is a mobile role covering the North West, Midlands and South Yorkshire. Engineers are regionally based where possible, however flexibility to travel across all areas is essential.
Applicants must also be willing to participate in an out-of-hours rota, including evenings and weekends, with enhanced rates paid accordingly.

Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintenance and breakdown repairs.
- Fault finding on domestic and commercial gas systems.
- Work on LPG and Air Source Heat Pump systems.
- Planned preventative maintenance.
- Plumbing repairs and associated works.
- Occasional installation works.
- Completion of reports via PDA.
- Emergency call-outs and reactive works.
Essential Requirements
- ACS Qualifications including CCN1 and CENWAT.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in service, maintenance and breakdown.
- Strong fault-finding abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated with the ambition to progress into management.
- Comfortable travelling throughout the North West, Midlands and South Yorkshire.
- Willingness to participate in evening and weekend on-call duties.
Desirable
- LPG qualifications.
- Air Source Heat Pump qualifications.
- Commercial Gas qualifications.
- Unvented Hot Water qualification.
- Previous supervisory or lead engineer experience.
- Experience within Facilities Management environments.
