Job Summary
Nursery Cook - Monday - Friday 9.30am - 1.30pm
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for children in our nursery setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a good understanding of food safety standards, and experience working in a kitchen environment. This role involves creating balanced meals that meet dietary requirements while ensuring a safe and hygienic kitchen environment. The Nursery Cook will play a vital part in supporting the health and wellbeing of the children through quality meal provision.
Duties
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks suitable for young children, following specified dietary guidelines
- Assist with meal planning and ensure variety and nutritional balance in menus
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times
- Ensure all food is stored correctly and ingredients are fresh and safe for consumption
- Assist with ordering supplies and managing stock levels to ensure availability of ingredients
- Follow health and safety regulations during food preparation and service
- Serve meals to children in a friendly, caring manner, promoting positive eating habits
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly to uphold hygiene standards
- Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles, preferably within a childcare or nursery setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
- Experience with meal preparation for young children is desirable
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently during busy periods
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Basic understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements for children
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous
- Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills to interact positively with children and staff

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
