Job Overview
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is a senior, trusted advisor responsible for delivering a high‑quality, commercially focused HR service across Crown Plus. The role exists to strengthen leadership capability, embed consistent people practices, and ensure the organisation operates with professionalism, compliance, and accountability.
The HRBP will lead on all strategic and operational HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, organisational development, workforce planning, recruitment, training, and cultural improvement. The postholder will work closely with managers to ensure Crown Plus maintains high standards of conduct, behaviour, and performance, and that all HR processes are legally compliant, well‑documented, and aligned with business needs.
This role requires a confident, resilient HR professional who can challenge constructively, influence senior leaders, and drive improvements across the organisation.
Accountabilities
1. Strategic HR Leadership
- Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team to shape and deliver the people strategy.
- Provide insight, data, and recommendations to support business planning, workforce forecasting, succession planning, and organisational design.
- Lead cultural development initiatives, reinforcing Crown Plus values, behaviours, and leadership expectations.
- Identify organisational risks and propose proactive solutions to strengthen stability and performance.
2. Employee Relations & Case Management
- Lead and manage all employee relations cases including absence, AWOL, capability, conduct, grievance, disciplinary, and appeals.
- Ensure all casework is legally compliant, evidence‑based, and documented to tribunal standard.
- Coach managers to handle issues early, consistently, and confidently.
- Conduct complex investigations and produce clear, factual reports.
- Provide guidance on risk‑based decisions, including safeguarding, health & safety, and reputational risk.
3. Performance, Appraisals & Leadership Development
- Oversee the annual appraisal cycle, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with the Company Handbook.
- Support managers in setting SMART objectives, addressing underperformance, and developing staff.
- Design and deliver training for managers on appraisals, performance conversations, conduct expectations, and HR processes.
- Implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) where required and monitor progress.
4. Recruitment, Onboarding & Talent Management
- Manage end‑to‑end recruitment for key roles, ensuring a professional, efficient, and compliant process.
- Support managers with job descriptions, adverts, interviews, selection decisions, and offer processes.
- Oversee onboarding, induction, and probation reviews to ensure a consistent employee experience.
- Identify talent, support succession planning, and develop internal capability.
5. Policies, Compliance & HR Governance
- Maintain and update HR policies, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with best practice.
- Ensure GDPR, confidentiality, and data protection standards are upheld across all sites.
- Provide guidance on health & safety responsibilities and support managers with risk‑based decisions.
- Ensure Crown Plus remains compliant with employment legislation, ACAS guidance, and internal policy.
6. Absence, Attendance & Wellbeing
- Monitor absence trends and intervene early to prevent patterns forming.
- Lead welfare meetings, return‑to‑work interviews, occupational health referrals, and reasonable adjustment discussions.
- Support employees with wellbeing needs while maintaining business continuity and fairness.
- Ensure consistent application of the Sickness Absence Policy across all departments.
7. HR Systems, Reporting & Data
- Maintain accurate records on BambooHR and other systems.
- Produce HR metrics and reports to support decision‑making (absence, turnover, ER cases, training, performance).
- Ensure documentation is stored correctly, securely, and consistently.
- Use data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
8. Culture, Engagement & Leadership Support
- Support managers to build high‑performing, respectful, and accountable teams.
- Reinforce expectations around conduct, professionalism, communication, and behaviour.
- Act as a role model for Crown Plus values and leadership standards.
- Support engagement initiatives, recognition programmes, and communication improvements.
Skills, Training and Knowledge Required
Essential
- Strong HR generalist experience at HR Advisor or HRBP level.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases end‑to‑end.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Confident communicator with strong influencing and coaching skills.
- Ability to challenge constructively and hold managers accountable.
- Excellent organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Experience using HR systems (e.g., BambooHR).
- High levels of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across sites.
Desirable
- CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
- Experience in multi‑site, operational, or service‑based environments.
- Experience delivering training or workshops.
- Experience supporting organisational change or restructuring.
Pay: £60,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
