Baylis is looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Workshop Controller to join our busy aftersales team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading from the centre of the workshop, coordinating technicians, supporting Service Advisors and ensuring every customer receives an exceptional experience.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Service Advisor, Workshop Supervisor or similar role within an automotive aftersales environment
- Strong understanding of workshop operations, vehicle repair processes and customer service standards
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 6:00pm

About You
You are highly organised, thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy keeping everything running smoothly. You have excellent communication skills, can confidently prioritise competing demands and take pride in delivering a first-class customer experience.
You will bring:
- At least 3 years' experience within an automotive aftersales environment
- A strong understanding of workshop planning, vehicle repairs and service processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with customers, technicians and colleagues
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
The Role
As Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily operation of the workshop, ensuring work is allocated efficiently, repair progress is monitored and customers are kept informed throughout their vehicle's journey.
Working closely with the Service Manager, Service Advisors and technicians, you will play a key role in maintaining workshop efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and controlling the daily workshop schedule
- Allocating work to technicians based on skill, availability and workshop priorities
- Monitoring repair progress and ensuring work is completed on time and to the highest standard
- Acting as the main point of communication between technicians, Service Advisors and customers
- Providing customers with regular progress updates and obtaining authority for additional work where required
- Preparing accurate labour and parts estimates and producing completed invoices
- Carrying out quality control checks before vehicles are returned to customers
- Maintaining accurate workshop documentation, job cards and vehicle history records
- Supporting departmental productivity while ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards and health & safety procedures
