OVERVIEW
Radii Architectural Glass are specialists in designing and installing complex structural and architecturalglazed solutions such as atriums, lift lobbies, glass stairs, balustrades, external curtain wall, structural glass façades and fire rated doors and glazing.
We are looking for a Design Manager to join a very experienced team of Design Managers and Senior Design Managers working on a range of specialist architectural glazing projects in the commercial building sector. Support and training would be provided to enable the successful candidate to grow and develop in the role.
PURPOSE
· Responsible for the production and management of design and technical documentation for commercial architectural glazing projects from project award to final account
· Use specialist computer software including AutoCad and Revit (BIM) to produce plans and technical drawings for fabrication, modelling a range of products and components (2D and 3D).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· To use specialist computer software (AutoCad, Revit) to produce plans, technical drawings for fabrication, modelling a range of products and components (2D and 3D for the project.
· To be able to work independently, whilst under the guidance of a Design Department Manager, and manage timescales against project programmes to achieve deadlines targeted.
· To ensure buildability, safety, cost, and access are considered when producing designs.
· To liaise with internal and external departments to ensure client requirements are fully understood and compliant.
· To ensure all plans and drawings are in line with the specification, acoustic and fire requirements.
· To ensure client drawing protocol is complied with where applicable and upload to the project portals.
· To complete drawing registers, door and screen schedules, deliverables, throughout the project.
· To ensure all drawings and plans are thoroughly checked by the Senior Design Department team prior to submission.
· To attend design coordination meetings externally with main contractors and architects.
· To coordinate interface detailing with other fit out trades is pivotal to the role
· To liaise with engineers, suppliers and produce fabrication drawings.
· To create and issue technical submissions.
· Follow design processes and update project files.
· Ensure knowledge and awareness of your roles and responsibilities under the Company’s integrated management systems in relation to Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental.
· Ensure knowledge and understanding of the Company’s policies and procedures in relation to data protection legislation.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
· Minimum of 3 year’s experience working in a design role within a commercial architectural or glazed partitioning environment.
· Excellent knowledge of design software including AutoCad and Revit (BIM).
· Previous experience of working with architects plans and drawings as well as manufacturing details and requisitions.
· Understanding of setting out from datums and gridlines.
· Good problem-solving skills and the ability to come up with practical solutions.
· Ability to convert verbal and written information into 2D and 3D drawings with accuracy and attention to detail.
· Good communications skills.
· Efficient and well organised.
· Positive attitude.
· Self-motivated and able to use initiative.
· Once tasked an ability to work with limited supervision.
· Ability to demonstrate a commitment to own personal development within the role.
· A passion for design and a keen interest in the business and progression of the division.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following are required:
· Advanced IT skills· Proficient in AutoCAD· Excel and Microsoft software experience· Revit (BIM) experience would be a benefit
· Full UK driving licence
WORKING HOURS
· 8.30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (with a one-hour lunch break each day).
