Overview
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Stores and Yard Operative to join our team. This role involves managing warehouse stock, handling materials, and supporting yard operations to ensure smooth logistical processes. The ideal candidate will possess relevant warehouse experience, electrical and mechanical knowledge, and the ability to operate various equipment including forklifts. Ensuring the maintenance (repairs and testing) of company plant and warehouse materials/equipment, inclusive of delivering and collecting materials from various sites across all regions region.The candidate will also ensure that all company assets and materials are managed in accordance with the company stock control and purchasing procedures. You will also ensure monthly stock management is undertaken.You will also engage and work with engineers to remove company assets and materials from site and return to the yard for maintenance, repair and re stocking, following strict procedures.

Responsibilities
- Efficiently load and unload materials using appropriate equipment such as forklifts and manual handling techniques
- Manage stock levels through accurate stocking, picking, and packing activities in line with warehouse management system protocols
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Maintain organisation of the yard and storage areas, ensuring safety standards are upheld at all times
- Operate warehouse machinery including forklifts, adhering to safety procedures and operational guidelines
- Support materials handling tasks across construction sites or industrial yards as required
- Follow health and safety regulations diligently during all activities
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety of stores, vehicles and the yard/stores
- Preparing and collating material and/or plant requisitions for dispatch
- Driving duties, and deliveries
- Maintaining, repairing and testing company equipment and small plant
- Monthly Stock checks
- Monthly stock replenishment
- Vehicle inspections / checks & Basic maintenance.
- Vehicle cleaning
- Van material replenishment
- General Housekeeping
Requirements
- Previous experience in warehouse management or yard operations is highly desirable
- Valid CSCS card
- Valid forklift licence or certification is preferred
- Strong knowledge of materials handling, stock control, and logistics procedures
- Electrical and Mechanical knowledge or construction experience is advantageous
- Manual labour is a key part of this role. therefore good physical fitness/ability is required
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Experience with shipping & receiving, picking & packing tasks within a warehouse environment
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in stock management
- Physical fitness to handle demanding tasks throughout the shift
- Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
Pay: £18,112.00 per year
