We are currently looking to recruit a full time Band 3 Activity Co-ordinator. As part of modernisation of learning disability services, Hafod Y Wennol is looking for a candidate who is interested in working with individuals assessed as suitable for step down from low secure and locked rehab facilities.
The successful candidate will work closely with the nursing team and feedback to the multi-disciplinary team providing activities and rehabilitation to support individuals to live independently in their local area. Previous experience in a similar area of work would be beneficial, with knowledge and experience of working with individuals with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Issues, a forensic history and who may present with complex Behaviours that challenge.

The successful Candidates will be expected to create, co-ordinate and deliver a programme of activities and involve users in the design of activity programmes. Evaluation of the effectiveness of activity programmes will also be part of the role. Activities will include supporting the Service Users within the Unit, as well as within the wider community.
The successful candidate will also be empathetic and demonstrate good values and behaviours, in order to ensure the delivery of a high quality activity programme for our Service Users.
We are therefore looking for individual who has a caring, understanding and non-judgmental attitude, with the ability to plan and deliver a programme of activities. The successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude to working with people with Learning Disabilities and demonstrate a person-centred approach to activity planning and delivery. Additionally, the successful Candidates must be flexible towards the needs of the service and able to demonstrate commitment to developing their skills. In return, the Health Board will provide support and training opportunities for development.
