Maintenance & Grounds Operative
Sunset Retreats is looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Maintenance & Grounds Operative to help maintain our glamping site to a high standard.
This is a varied, hands on role. No two days are the same. You'll be responsible for general maintenance, preparing guest facilities, maintaining the grounds, and helping ensure every guest arrives to a site that is clean, safe and ready to enjoy.
Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the site, including glamping accommodation, commercial buildings, hot tubs and saunas.
- Prepare wood fired hot tubs and saunas ready for guest arrivals.
- Complete routine maintenance of hot tubs, saunas and site facilities.
- Maintain the gardens and grounds, including mowing, strimming, hedge trimming, weeding, planting and seasonal maintenance.
- Keep pathways, outdoor spaces and communal areas clean, tidy and well presented.
- Identify maintenance issues and carry out repairs where appropriate.
- Assist with basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs within your level of competence.
- Use and maintain tools and equipment safely and ensure they remain in good working order.
- Work alongside other members of the team to maintain high standards across the site.
- Respond to maintenance issues as they arise to minimise disruption to guests.
- Support additional maintenance or improvement projects when required.
Working Hours
- Flexibility is essential, including weekdays and weekends.
- Typical working hours will be between 9:00am and 4:00pm, depending on guest bookings and operational requirements.
- Hours will vary throughout the year.
- During the quieter season, January to March, a minimum of 10 hours per week will be available, with additional hours offered during busier periods.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities, grounds maintenance or a similar practical role.
- Good all round maintenance skills.
- Basic plumbing, electrical or mechanical knowledge is desirable.
- A practical problem solver who takes pride in their work.
- Able to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Reliable, organised and punctual.
- Friendly and professional when interacting with guests.
- Full UK driving licence is preferred.
