Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and motivated Registered Manager to lead our new children’s residential home in Armthorpe, Doncaster.
The home will provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for up to three children. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the service from the beginning, recruit and develop a strong staff team, and establish a home where children feel secure, valued and able to achieve positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- RI will the complete registration the applicant would support where needed the successful opening of the home
- Manage the home in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standard
- Provide strong, child-centred leadership to the staff team
- Support and help to develop residential care staff alongside the RI.
- Ensure children receive high-quality, individualised care
- Maintain robust safeguarding practices throughout the service with support of RI
- Implement the policies, procedures, risk assessments and care plans adapting these where necessary.
- Work effectively with children, families, social workers, local authorities and other professionals
- Monitor the quality of care and drive continuous improvement
- Manage staffing, rotas, the day-to-day operation of the home
- Promote a warm, stable and homely environment for the children
Essential requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience working within children’s residential care
- Experience in a senior, deputy-manager or management position within a children’s home
- Completed, or currently working towards, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Significant knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures
- Strong understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
- Experience of supervising and supporting staff
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to make sound decisions and remain calm under pressure
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rota
- Full UK driving licence - desirable.
Desirable
- Previous experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager
- Experience supporting the registration or opening of a new children’s home
- A successful history of achieving a good or outstanding Ofsted rating
- Experience of recruiting and developing a new residential care team
- Knowledge of the Doncaster area and local authority commissioning arrangements
