Aspire and Achieve is a specialist independent school in Leeds supporting young people aged 11–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and moderate learning difficulties.
We are a small, nurturing setting where relationships are at the heart of everything we do. As a newly registered independent school, we are at an exciting stage of development and are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team.
The Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, personalised learning and supporting young people who may have experienced significant barriers to education.
You will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative learning activities tailored to individual needs.
- Lead whole-class and small-group sessions, including covering planned teacher absence.
- Adapt learning resources and approaches to meet different abilities and learning styles.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and support their emotional wellbeing, regulation and behaviour.
- Deliver mentoring, wellbeing check-ins and targeted interventions.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and support planning.
- Work closely with colleagues, families and external professionals to provide holistic support.
- Support and mentor Teaching Assistants, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the school.
- Support the delivery of accredited qualifications at Key Stage 4 where appropriate.

We are looking for someone who is passionate, resilient and committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning. You will have high expectations of pupils while recognising the importance of patience, consistency, empathy and strong relationships.
You should be confident working independently, able to adapt your approach to individual needs and committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
