The Role
As an Early Years Practitioner, you will provide high-quality, inclusive care and inspiring learning opportunities for all children, in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (November 2025).
You will help create memorable learning experiences, contribute to curriculum planning and maintain a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to flourish.
Our practice is inspired by the Curiosity Approach, encouraging children to explore, investigate, think independently and develop a lifelong love of learning.
What You’ll Be Doing
Children’s Learning & Development
- Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging learning experiences in line with EYFS principles and our nursery’s Curiosity Approach ethos.
- Act as a Key Person, building strong relationships with your key children and supporting their individual learning and development.
- Observe children’s progress and maintain accurate and meaningful learning records.
- Recognise each child as an individual and adapt experiences to their interests, needs and stage of development.
- Promote inclusion and provide appropriate support for children with additional needs.
- Help create an environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, independence and a love of learning.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Children’s safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
You will:
- Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming and nurturing environment.
- Follow all safeguarding, Health & Safety and nursery policies.
- Support children sensitively with personal care and hygiene routines, including nappy changing where required.
- Assist with cleaning routines and meal supervision.
- Promote children’s physical and emotional wellbeing and respond sensitively to their individual needs.
Families, Communication & Teamwork
Great childcare is built on great relationships.
You will build positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues, helping families feel welcomed, listened to and involved in their child’s nursery experience.
You will:
- Communicate confidently and professionally with parents and colleagues.
- Share important information appropriately with the Nursery Manager and wider team.
- Work collaboratively and support your colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.

Variety in Your Working Day
No two days in Early Years are quite the same.
Alongside your usual nursery responsibilities, you may provide cover in different areas of the nursery or support exciting off-site experiences, including Forest School sessions.
You may also undertake other reasonable duties requested by the Nursery Manager as part of the effective running of the nursery.

Qualifications
- Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare, or an accepted equivalent.
Knowledge & Skills
- A sound understanding of the EYFS.
- An understanding of Ofsted’s current inspection requirements.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong observation and planning skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
- Ability to obtain a clear DBS and successfully complete our further safer recruitment checks.

£1,000 Early Years Incentive
Eligible Early Years Practitioners may also qualify for a £1,000 government incentive payment through the national recruitment and retention initiative for qualified Early Years staff, subject to the applicable government eligibility criteria.
