We are seeking an experienced and strategic Learning & Development Manager to design, implement, and lead our organisational learning strategy. The Role
Reporting to the senior leadership team, the Learning & Development Manager will take ownership of the company's learning and development function, driving initiatives that support employee engagement, performance improvement, leadership capability, and long-term organisational growth.
You will work closely with department managers to identify capability gaps, develop targeted learning programmes, manage training budgets, and evaluate the effectiveness of all development initiatives.
This role requires an individual who combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, ensuring learning solutions are aligned with business objectives and support a high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company's Learning & Development strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Conduct company-wide training needs analyses to identify current and future capability requirements.
- Design and deliver engaging training programmes across technical, professional, leadership, compliance, and behavioural competencies.
- Build structured onboarding and induction programmes for new employees.
- Develop leadership and management development pathways for current and future leaders.
- Introduce competency frameworks and career development plans across the organisation.
- Source, manage and evaluate external training providers where appropriate.
- Develop e-learning content and blended learning solutions using modern learning technologies.
- Manage and maintain the company's Learning Management System (LMS).
- Monitor mandatory training compliance and maintain accurate learning records.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using measurable performance indicators and return-on-investment analysis.
- Support succession planning, talent management and employee development initiatives.
- Partner with managers to coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development throughout the organisation.
- Manage annual Learning & Development budgets and ensure effective allocation of resources.
- Ensure all training programmes meet relevant legislative and industry compliance requirements.
- Produce regular reports and insights for senior leadership on learning activity, completion rates, employee engagement and capability development.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Learning & Development Manager, L&D Business Partner or Senior Learning & Development Specialist.
- Demonstrable experience developing and implementing organisational learning strategies.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Experience designing leadership development programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Strong presentation, facilitation and coaching abilities.
- Experience managing Learning Management Systems.
- Ability to analyse data and measure learning effectiveness.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organisational change.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to align learning initiatives to business objectives.
- CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 qualification in Learning & Development, Human Resources or equivalent professional qualification (desirable).
Desirable Experience
- Experience within technology, IT services, digital transformation or managed services environments.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship programmes and professional qualifications.
- Experience implementing competency frameworks.
- Familiarity with learning analytics platforms.
- Experience supporting organisational change programmes.
- Knowledge of coaching and mentoring frameworks.
- Project management qualifications or experience.
