The Learning Canopy is seeking a passionate and dedicated ALN Intervention Practitioner to join our growing team on a part-time and/or seasonal basis.
At The Learning Canopy, we believe every child deserves an approach tailored to their individual strengths, interests and needs. We provide bespoke 1:1 and paired intervention sessions for children and young people with a wide range of Additional Learning Needs, focusing on building confidence, self-esteem and a love of learning alongside academic progress.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys thinking creatively, building meaningful relationships with children and adapting their approach to help every learner succeed.
Pay: £25 per scheduled intervention session (typically one hour). As learner timetables vary, some shifts may include breaks between sessions which are unpaid.
Hours
- Part-time seasonal position.
- Shifts will take place between 2:30pm and 7:30pm, Monday to Friday.
- Hours will vary depending on learner timetables and service demand, with opportunities for additional hours as The Learning Canopy continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Deliver bespoke 1:1 and paired intervention sessions tailored to each learner’s individual needs.
- Adapt learning and intervention programmes to support a wide range of Additional Learning Needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and their families.
- Plan engaging, motivating activities that promote confidence, independence and a love of learning.
- Monitor and record learner progress through observations, assessments and weekly notes.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to review and adapt intervention programmes.
- Liaise professionally with parents, schools and other professionals where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Contribute positively to the continued development of The Learning Canopy.
About You

- Has experience supporting children and young people with Additional Learning Needs.
- Has a good understanding of child development and inclusive practice.
- Can adapt learning to meet individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
- Is calm, patient, creative and able to build positive relationships with children.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Shares our passion for helping children develop confidence, resilience and positive learning experiences.
Desirable Experience
- Supporting children with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and other Additional Learning Needs.
- Delivering literacy, numeracy, phonics, spelling or handwriting interventions.
- Supporting speech, language and communication development.
- Working with children experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), anxiety or low self-esteem.
- Using sensory regulation strategies and adapting learning environments to meet individual needs.
- Delivering evidence-based intervention programmes and adapting them to individual learners.
- Liaising professionally with families, schools and other educational professionals.
- Planning, monitoring and recording progress towards individual learning targets.
