Transport Manager – HGV Waste & Recycling Operations
Location: Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to join our busy and growing HGV waste and recycling business.
This is a key role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our transport fleet while delivering excellent service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the day-to-day operation of a busy HGV fleet.
· Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence obligations and transport legislation.
· Oversee driver management, including recruitment, training, performance, and disciplinary matters where required.
· Step in for planners when on leave
· Monitor vehicle maintenance, inspections, MOTs, and servicing.
· Ensure compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive, and tachograph regulations.
· Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions where necessary.
· Work closely with the operations team to maximise fleet efficiency and customer satisfaction.
· Maintain accurate transport records and reports.
Requirements
· Previous experience as a Transport Manager within the HGV industry.
· A valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential).
· Strong knowledge of Operator Licence compliance, DVSA regulations, and drivers' hours legislation.
· Experience managing drivers in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
· Ability to solve problems and work under pressure.
· Experience in the waste, recycling, or construction sector would be an advantage.
