We are working with a client who is seeking an experienced Distribution Co-Ordinator to join their busy logistics and warehouse team in Northallerton.
The successful candidate will support transport planning activities, monitor performance, coordinate collections and deliveries, and provide administrative support across the distribution function. This is a varied role suited to an organised and proactive individual who can remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
The role will also provide the opportunity to develop knowledge across a range of transport-related functions and provide cover across the wider team when required.
Responsibilities
- Acting as a key point of contact for customer service queries relating to collections, deliveries and order fulfilment.
- Monitoring and reporting third-party logistics provider performance, including on-time and in-full collection and delivery performance.
- Preparing daily and weekly performance reports.
- Ensuring warehouse teams have visibility of loading plans within agreed deadlines.
- Analysing customer KPIs and identifying, tracking and addressing root causes of issues.
- Liaising with customers to assign haulage, arrange collections and confirm delivery slots.
- Providing transport planning support across multiple customers and collection points.
- Coordinating pallet and tray collections where required.
- Providing planning and administrative support for external warehouse operations.
- Assisting with POD collection and delivery issue resolution.
- Liaising with warehouse management and other internal teams.
- Supporting the preparation and administration of export documentation.
- Providing cover across other transport and administrative functions when required.
- Following all company health and safety standards, policies and procedures.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' recent experience in a Transport Planning role — ESSENTIAL.
- Experience within a fast-paced distribution, logistics or consumer goods environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using transport, warehouse or logistics management systems.
- Knowledge of SAP and WMS systems would be beneficial.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work independently and without constant supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to make effective decisions when working under pressure.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
