A friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position, supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2, depending on your experience and the needs of the school.

The Role
As an Experienced Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. You will help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels supported to succeed.
Your responsibilities may include supporting the whole class, delivering small group interventions, providing targeted academic support, and working on a 1:1 basis where required.
Responsibilities

Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1, or KS2.
- Deliver targeted interventions in phonics, reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils requiring additional assistance.
- Support pupils with a range of learning abilities, including those with SEND where required.
- Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Support school trips, enrichment activities, and the wider life of the school.
About You
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant role, you will have:

A minimum of one year’s experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a UK primary school.
- Experience supporting pupils within EYFS, KS1, or KS2.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, patient, and proactive approach.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- A genuine passion for helping children learn and succeed.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, or other Special Educational Needs (SEND) would be advantageous but is not essential.
