Senior/ Principal Acoustician

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior/ Principal Acoustician to join our growing team with a view to taking on Directorship and shareholding in our acoustic practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a Chartered MIOA Acoustician to lead a variety of acoustic consultancy projects across sectors including environmental noise, building acoustics, transportation, infrastructure, and planning.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical work, managing client relationships, mentoring 3No. acousticians, and contributing to the strategic growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage acoustic consultancy projects from inception through to completion.
- Undertake and oversee noise and vibration assessments in accordance with relevant standards and guidance.
- Prepare and review technical reports, environmental statements, and planning submissions.
- Provide expert acoustic advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and tender submissions.
- Mentor and support acousticians and contribute to team development. For this reason we would need the candidate to be office based, not remote.
- Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and professional forums.
Requirements
- Chartered Acoustician status (e.g., Member of the Institute of Acoustics or equivalent professional body).
- Degree in Acoustics, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within acoustic consultancy.
- Strong technical knowledge of environmental noise, vibration, and/or building acoustics.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Proven project management and client-facing experience.
- Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
