This means you will not be employed by Action on Disability, but directly by the individual themselves or by a representative who is acting on their behalf.
About Our Client
Our client is an articulate 19-year-old male living in West London who values independence and is keen to build confidence and social connections. He lives with autism and experiences anxiety, which impacts his ability to access community facilities and services independently. Our client is motivated to explore interests in computing, creative writing, music, football, and is open to volunteering opportunities.
Role Overview
As a Personal Assistant, you will provide practical and supportive assistance to help our client access community activities, build confidence, and engage in his interests. The ideal candidate will be patient, reliable, and respectful of our client’s preferences and needs. You will support him to participate in recreational activities, improve conversational skills and help him develop new relationships.
Key Duties
- Support our client to access local community facilities and services, such as music events, football/fitness activities, and other interests.
- Assist with building confidence and social skills in community settings.
- Encourage independence and help our client achieve his personal outcomes related to community engagement and social inclusion.
Person Specification
- Any experience in youth work would be advantageous.
- Understanding of autism and anxiety, and experience supporting individuals with similar needs.
- Experience supporting young adults or individuals with learning disabilities or mental health conditions.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to our client’s changing needs and interests.
- Any similar interest with client would be advantageous; board games, electronic music, football, etc
Schedule
- Every Tuesday – 4 hours, tentatively 2pm – 6pm (family is open to being flexible with timing)
