We are looking to recruit an Engineering Technician to join the team in Newcastle.
The successful candidate will have an electro/ mechanical engineering qualification.

Maintain and improve the safety, legality and quality of products manufactured in accordance with food safety and quality policy
Efficiently maintaining all production and warehouse machinery in good working order.
Keeping the machines and fittings in a clean and hygienic state, ensuring that you and your colleagues follow hygiene instructions and good housekeeping practices.
Operating a line regularly, this will include the full operation of the line, including setting the machine up, running, packing and completing the line checks.
Ensuring all appropriate servicing maintenance and breakdown information (including contract servicing) is recorded accurately on the maintenance database. Support the development of the Planned Preventive Maintenance plan
Servicing production machinery, attending breakdowns escalating as necessary
Involvement in Continuous Improvement activities to drive increase in asset performance
Train Operator and packers to perform basic asset maintenance.
Maintain the factory, warehouse and office buildings
Switching on all machines in the factory on prior to production and switching them off after production or when required by the Shift Leader
Open up the factory, locking up and setting alarms as required
Observing health and environmental safety regulations
Recommending and looking for changes necessary to improve the operation of the department. Looking for improvements to increase performance of the production machinery
Ordering spares in the absence of the Engineering Team Leader
Supervising sub-contractors in the absence or as instructed by the Engineering Team Leader
Assisting production staff in any way possible to ensure efficient and continuous output
Rotational shifts as and when required, that will include, Earlies, lates and nights
Behaving in a polite, acceptable and responsible manner
Training of new staff as required
Any other duties assigned by the Engineering Team Leader, Engineering, Manufacturing or Technical Manager

Job Specifications:
- Ideally have experience working on IMA, C51, C21, C23, C24,C27, , Ilapak fill, Marden Edward over wrappers and Fuso tea bag machines, Bradman lake carton packers , Fuji flow-wrappers
- Electro/Mechanical engineering qualification
· Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
· Ability to cope in a busy environment
· Good interpersonal and communication skills
· Be proactive and take the initiative

40 minutes break daily

Monday to Thursday
1420-2300 – 40 minutes break daily

There is also a requirement to work 6 weekends per year (one day either a Saturday or Sunday) by agreement.
