General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Assistant Project Accountant to join our Finance Team, based in Merthyr Tydfil. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £33,200 to £41,500 based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally.
Joining an established team, the successful candidate is required to support the Project Accounting team within the Land Systems Business Line, contributing to the effective financial management and control of programmes while ensuring compliance with GDUK and corporate policies and procedures.
The role is responsible for programme financial control activities, including forecasting, variance analysis and timely General Ledger reconciliations. Working closely with Finance and operational teams, the Assistant Project Accountant supports decision-making, resolves financial issues and helps deliver programme and business objectives.
The successful candidate will be proactive, analytical and collaborative, with strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to address issues promptly and effectively.

Maintain financial control of allocated projects, monitoring costs, forecasts and variances

Maintain programme baselines and manage associated orders

Management of Purchase Order Commitments

Financial Analysis and Reporting of individual budgets with the Control Account Managers (CAMs)

Monthly Programme Summary, forecasting and variance analysis

Provide EAC and forecasting, ensuring integrity of data and profile management and adherence to corporate policies.

Completion of Programme tasks on a monthly and weekly basis and respond to queries as and when they arrive

Investigate and resolve financial queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and support mitigation activities.
- Assist with audits, business reviews and ad hoc financial analysis as required.

Perform monthly General Ledger reconciliations and resolve outstanding items

Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial information

Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and business cases as required

Qualified/Part- Qualified Accountant (ACMA/ACA/ACCA)
