Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care home. The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs of our residents, with a particular focus on senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer’s care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from residents with varying levels of cognitive and physical ability.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual needs and adapt activities accordingly, especially for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings.
- Coordinate special events and celebrations to promote community spirit within the care home environment.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and are conducted in a safe manner.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote awareness of upcoming events and gather input for programme development.
- Assist in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that promotes socialisation and emotional wellbeing among residents.
Experience
- Previous experience working within a nursing home environments is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in senior care, dementia care or Alzheimer’s care is advantageous.
- Background in activity coordination within a care home setting is essential.
- Excellent communication skills are essential for engaging with residents of varying cognitive levels and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of best practices in eldercare activities, especially relating to dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, will be considered an asset.
