The Glympton Estate is a large, private estate, just outside Woodstock in Oxfordshire. We are a shooting and farming estate. We are currently looking to recruit a Gardener with excellent horticultural skills and preferably a background in estate garden maintenance. The successful candidate will have good plant knowledge and will be able to demonstrate a variety of skills. Tasks will include mowing, strimming, hedge trimming and border maintenance. We are working our way through ongoing garden improvements and would like someone to join us to continue to build this exciting vision. Experience with a range of machinery would be helpful. PA1, PA6 and a chainsaw licence would be desirable. A driving licence is also essential for this role. We offer a competitive salary and pension scheme.
Responsibilities
- Use hand tools and power tools to prune, trim, plant, and maintain garden beds, lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers.
- Conduct regular landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, mulching, fertilising, and pest control.
- Monitor plant health closely, identify issues early, and implement appropriate horticultural solutions.
- Collaborate with team members to implement seasonal planting schemes and landscape improvements.
Skills
- Experience operating power tools including trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and lawnmowers.
- Growing experience in horticulture or gardening practices with a strong understanding of plant care.
- Solid background in landscape maintenance techniques for diverse outdoor environments.
- Passion for gardening combined with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
