Overview
In our business the role of a Fitter / Welder is that of a multi-skilled technician. The role includes the manufacture, installation, and maintenance of both standard products and special projects, working both in the factory and on customer sites.
When in the factory you will be expected to work with technical drawings to manufacture to a high standard a variety of products, this will include fabrication, mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
The role will also include fault finding, repair, maintenance and delivery of the same products, either at base or on sites across UK.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical aptitude, be able to problem solve, and be able to lead a small team of specialist technicians on a construction site to manage the installation of heavy equipment safely and to a very high standard.
Duties
1. Fabrication and welding.
2. Mechanical Assembly
3. Pneumatic Assembly
4. Electrical Assembly
5. Site installations on customer / construction sites.
6. Mechanical installation / derig of rental equipment.
7. Service & maintenance of equipment in the factory and on customer sites.
8. Driving & staying away from home on occasion duration between 1 & 14 days
9. Ensuring all work is completed in a safe manner and according to current health and safety regulations and safe working practices / working standards.
10. Ensuring all work is undertaken to a high quality.
Essential skills, experience / requirements
1. NVQ LVL 3 – Equivalent.
2. Welding Experience – MIG / MMA.
3. Previous experience of Engineering.
4. Previous experience working on Construction sites.
5. Full driving license.
6. Physically fit as manual handling is required.
7. Technically minded with a good engineering understanding.
8. Ability to problem solve.
9. Excellent time keeping and attendance.
10. Experience / knowledge of using hand / power tools.
11. Willing to travel to sites across the UK - working away from home.
12. Strong attention to detail.
13. Confident and able to work on own initiative.
14. Good team working and interpersonal skills.
15. Excellent standards of workmanship with adherence to Health and Safety.
16. A keenness to learn and develop with a positive approach to work.
