Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, Holmfirth Vineyard is home to award-winning English wines, a popular restaurant, weddings, afternoon teas, wine tastings and relaxing overnight stays. Our aim is to deliver outstanding guest experiences while maintaining a successful and profitable operation. We are looking for a Restaurant Duty Manager who can lead by example, inspire the team and help drive both service excellence and commercial performance.
Purpose of the Role
To support the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and hospitality areas, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, efficient service delivery, and high operational standards. The Restaurant Duty Manager will lead shifts, support and develop team members, and help ensure the business operates efficiently and profitably.
- Lead and supervise restaurant operations during shifts.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure guest satisfaction at all times.
- Support the restaurant management team in achieving sales, service and profitability targets.
- Oversee the smooth delivery of restaurant service, weddings, afternoon teas, wine tastings and other events.
- Lead, motivate and support front-of-house team members.
- Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and effectively.
- Assist with staff training and development.
- Support stock control, ordering and wastage management.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, licensing, health and safety, and company procedures.
- Complete opening and closing duties as required.
- Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and service throughout the venue.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader or duty management role within hospitality.
- Experience leading teams during busy day-to-day restaurant service and high-volume trading periods.
- Experience working with weddings, private events and functions, ensuring excellent guest experiences and smooth operational delivery.
- Proven ability to manage a fast-paced service environment while maintaining high standards.
- Experience handling guest queries and resolving issues professionally and efficiently.

- Experience promoting and selling wines and premium beverages.
- Food Safety qualification.
- Personal Licence Holder qualification.
- Experience using EPOS and reservation systems.
