John Hellyar & Company Ltd has been the UK’s leading independent compounder and distributor of thermoplastics for over 50 years. We are recruiting for a Production and Pre Mix Operative role on the night shift at our facility in Whitstable, Kent.
The Production & Premix Operative role covers a number of manual jobs which need to be carried out in line with the standard operating procedures. These include 25kg bag removal, quality checks and forklift driving. You will be required to complete all necessary paperwork and perform the required checks on the material produced during the shift, and record the results you obtain.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that colour checks are done and any adjustments to pre mixes are carried out as required.
You will report to the Shift Manager who will determine where in the plant you will be required to work. In this role you will be required to keep yourself and others safe, apply your training and always seek clarity.
The hours of work are 10pm to 6am, equating to a 40 hour working week Monday to Friday. This is a permanent night shift role after an initial six week training period on days.
This job will be subject to a six month probationary period.
Ideally the successful candidate will have experience or qualifications in the following areas, although training will be provided for the right candidate if necessary:
· Forklift truck licence / pallet stacker
· Manual handling training
· The ability to carry out all required checks in terms of quality and maintenance
· A good standard of numeracy and literacy
· Reasonable computer skills
