We are recruiting an Experienced Barista for a busy independent café in Hemel Hempstead town centre.
We are looking for someone with strong café experience, excellent customer service skills, proper coffee knowledge and the ability to work confidently during busy service. The right person must be able to make consistently high-quality drinks, produce latte art, communicate well with customers and support a professional café team.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in coffee quality, speed, cleanliness, presentation and customer experience.
Main Responsibilities
Prepare high-quality espresso-based drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites, americanos, mochas and iced coffees.
Produce consistent latte art to a good standard.
Dial in espresso and understand grind size, extraction, milk texture and drink consistency.
Steam milk correctly for different drinks.
Follow drink recipes, trained methods and café standards consistently.
Keep the coffee machine, grinder, counter and drinks area clean, organised and well-stocked.
Serve customers in a friendly, confident and professional manner.
Take orders accurately and communicate clearly with the team.
Work quickly and calmly during busy periods.
Handle customer questions or concerns politely and professionally.
Support front-of-house service when required.
Help maintain stock levels for coffee, milk, syrups and other drinks supplies.
Follow hygiene, allergen and health & safety procedures.
Support opening, closing and cleaning duties as required.
Requirements
Previous barista experience in a café, coffee shop or similar hospitality environment.
Confident making espresso-based drinks to a high standard.
Ability to produce latte art is required.
Proper coffee training or strong practical coffee knowledge is highly preferred.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Friendly, reliable, punctual and professional.
Able to work quickly and consistently under pressure.
Clean, organised and able to follow systems and standards.
Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider café team.
Must have the right to work in the UK.
Weekend availability is required.
