Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team in the role of Butcher. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic food production environment, contributing to the preparation and presentation of high-quality meat. The successful candidate will be passionate about food, possess relevant experience, and be committed to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Duties
- Butchery
- Preparing, trimming, weighing and pricing up meat;
- Cutting and boning a carcass;
- Packaging meat and storing it correctly;
- Discussing different cuts with customers, including how to cook and safely store them;
- Keeping the working environment safe and storing meat in accordance with health and safety legislation;
- Maintaining Records and ensuring work areas are clean and compliant with all food safety and hygiene standards.
- Hygiene Certificate
- Concepting & Preparing Spinney Abbey Value Added Products
- Maintaining Health & Safety standards for cleanliness of the shop
- Ad Hoc duties if needed like helping to move cows or filling cider barrels or feeding animals
- Anything else you can reasonably be expected to do in the day to day running of the shop
- Running a market stall 1x month (including driving, loading the meat, setting up the market stall, breakdown and returning to farm).
The working days would be 5 days per week (Tue-Sat).
Experience
- Previous butchery and retail experience.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Strong understanding of meat preparation techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
The working days would be 5 days per week (Tue-Sat).
Compensation comensurate with experience
Pay: £12.71-£17.00 per hour
