Job Summary
Here at the Roker Hotel, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Breakfast Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of breakfast dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant hospitality environment, delivering exceptional breakfast experiences for our guests. The Breakfast Chef will work closely with the kitchen team to maintain efficient service during busy morning hours. Breakfast will vary daily between a buffet and plated offering dependant on business levels. The successful candidate will be willing to adapt to requirements daily and ensure that all guests receive a high quality and delicious start to their day.
Shifts will be a minimum of 3 per week and range from 6am to 12pm or 6am to 3pm dependant on business levels. Following Breakfast service you may become involved in supporting Lunch and Afternoon Tea service or supporting prep for future functions and events.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a range of breakfast items, including eggs, waffles, pastries, and other specialised dishes.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing utensils and equipment after use.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to coordinate meal service and accommodate special dietary requirements.
- Assist in menu planning and suggest new breakfast offerings to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to food safety protocols at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure timely delivery of orders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and meal preparation methods specific to breakfast cuisine.
- Experience working in a professional kitchen environment with a focus on food safety standards.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Previous experience serving or interacting with guests is desirable but not essential.
