Job Title: Choreographer
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative and collaborative Choreographer to join our Christmas pantomime (oh yes we are!). You will be a key member of the Creative production team and will develop original dance routines and movement sequences that elevate the narrative, inspire performers and align with the Director’s vision and musical score. You will be responsible for auditioning, teaching dance steps and formation, and cleaning choreography for 4 amateur casts of approx.10 performers each, aged 7 – 18, as well as 5 professional cast members.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement choreography for the show, including teaching all dance steps to performers
- Work collaboratively with the Director/Music Director to fulfill the vision/concept of the production and integrate choreography into the production
- Empower and motivate participants to perform on stage and off to the best of their capabilities
- Set an example of professional behavior at all times, that teaches respectful harmonious relationships and teamwork, centered on the purpose of creating a successful production
- Attend all scheduled rehearsals, production meetings, and technical rehearsals
- Able to keep children safe - have a good knowledge of safeguarding
Person Specification
- Experience creating and teaching choreography, preferably within a production and with 8 - 18 year olds
- Working knowledge of professional theatre producing practices and personnel management
- Calm, friendly and professional demeanor, sense of humor encouraged!
- Exercise good judgment and discretion
- Punctual and reliable
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, able to execute projects efficiently and according to schedule
- Ability to work independently and to maintain a positive work atmosphere
- Relevant training or qualification in dance
- DBS checked
Dates: Rehearsals: 29 October to 9 December 2026 (2 weekday evenings and Sunday days). approx 70 - 80 hours in total
