This is a rewarding role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people and wants to make a difference. You will be part of the children’s everyday lives – supporting them through the good days and the more challenging ones, helping them develop confidence and independence, and providing the consistency and stability they need to feel safe and settled.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Support children with their day-to-day routines, including education, appointments, activities and time in the community.
- Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and agreed strategies to ensure children receive consistent support.
- Help children develop practical life skills and greater independence.
- Support children to manage their emotions and behaviour through clear boundaries, reassurance and positive relationships.
- Plan and take part in activities, outings and experiences that reflect the children's interests.
- Support children to maintain relationships with the people who are important to them.
- Drive children to school, appointments, family time and activities when required.
- Complete clear and accurate daily records, incident reports and other documentation.
- Work closely with colleagues, families, social workers and other professionals involved in the child's care.
- Contribute to creating a warm, safe and homely environment where children feel valued and listened to.
About You
Previous experience of working with children or young people is desirable, although we also welcome applicants who have the right values and are willing to learn.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is caring, patient and able to build positive relationships with young people.
- Can remain calm and supportive when situations become challenging.
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Is reliable and able to work as part of a team.
- Communicates confidently with children, colleagues and professionals.
- Is comfortable using IT systems for recording and reporting.
- Is willing to undertake training and continue developing their knowledge and skills.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to drive as part of the role.
What We Offer
You will join a supportive team where good practice, teamwork and the wellbeing of both children and staff are important to us.
We provide ongoing training, supervision and opportunities for professional development. You will be supported to develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality residential care and progress within the sector.
Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to be part of a home where children are supported to feel safe, build positive relationships, enjoy new experiences and work towards their future goals.
