Overview
We are seeking reliable and professional Part Time School Contract PSV Drivers to operate school routes in a safe and efficient manner. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for driving and a commitment to providing excellent service to students.
The position offers fixed hours aligned with school schedules and requires a responsible attitude towards safety and communication.
AM shifts start at 0630hrs and PM shifts start at 1430hrs Monday - Friday term time only based upon the term dates the schools we service.
Candidates must possess a valid PSV Driving Licence preferably with previous experience, and have a good understanding of safeguarding. A strong focus on safety, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this role.
Duties
- Safely operate school coaches/buses along designated routes, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students in line with the service times advertised.
- Conduct pre-journey vehicle checks, including mechanical inspections and basic maintenance tasks using a walk around app.
- Maintain accurate records of routes, schedules, and student attendance using our tailor made Home to School Transport app
- Communicate effectively with the Operations Team regarding route updates or issues
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations at all times during driving duties
- Report any vehicle malfunctions or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel
- Assist students as needed during boarding and alighting from the bus, ensuring their safety at all times
- Safeguarding all students on board and acting in Parentis Locum whilst students travel.
Experience
- Previous experience as a PSV driver
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and mechanical systems is advantageous
- Proven ability to safely operate coaches and buses safely over long distances or within urban environments
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus
