What we are looking for:
- Maintenance skills: A wide range of skills is beneficial to handle various maintenance needs within the care home.
- Safety consciousness: Safety is of utmost importance. Candidates who prioritize safety and have knowledge of health and safety regulations would be valued.
- Attention to detail: The candidate should have an eye for detail to identify issues like faulty wiring, leaks, or other potential hazards. They should also be capable of performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the care home's facilities are in good condition.
- Communication skills: Good communication is essential for a maintenance person, as they may need to interact with residents, staff members, and external contractors. Clear communication helps in understanding maintenance requests, providing updates, and coordinating repairs efficiently.
- Problem-solving abilities: A maintenance person should possess strong problem-solving skills to quickly assess and address maintenance issues. They should be resourceful, adaptable, and capable of finding solutions in a timely manner.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Care home environments can be dynamic, and maintenance needs may arise unexpectedly. A maintenance person should be flexible and adaptable to handle urgent or changing situations efficiently.
