Overview
We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and organised Wraparound Setting Lead to manage the day-to-day operation of one of our after-school wraparound childcare provisions.
Reporting directly to the Wraparound Childcare Area Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the setting provides a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for all children attending. Working closely with children, parents, school staff, and Play Leaders, you will oversee daily activities, safeguarding, compliance, staff support, and parent communication whilst maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism.
This is a part-time, term-time role working with working hours detailed at the bottom of the job specification.
Key Responsibilities
Wraparound Setting Management
- Lead the day-to-day operation of a designated wraparound childcare setting.
- Deliver a safe, engaging, and high-quality after-school provision.
- Plan, organise, and oversee activities that meet the needs and interests of attending children.
- Ensure all children are signed in and out correctly and attendance records are maintained accurately.
- Act as the main point of contact for parents, carers, and school staff within the setting.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
- Ensure resources, equipment, and facilities are organised and maintained appropriately.
- Monitor and maintain high standards of behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and communicate recommendations to the Wraparound Childcare Area Manager.
Staff Leadership & Support
- Provide day-to-day support and guidance to Play Leaders and support staff.
- Lead by example and promote a positive, professional, and child-centred culture.
- Ensure staff understand and follow company policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Support the induction and development of new team members where required.
- Provide regular operational updates to the Wraparound Childcare Area Manager.
- Escalate safeguarding concerns, staffing issues, operational challenges, and compliance risks where required.
- Implement actions and improvements identified by the Wraparound Childcare Area Manager.
- Support the delivery of company standards and expectations within the setting.
Compliance, Safeguarding & Quality Assurance
- Ensure the setting operates in line with Ofsted requirements, safeguarding procedures, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate registers, accident records, medication records, and safeguarding documentation.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are reported and recorded appropriately.
- Complete daily setting checks and maintain required compliance documentation.
- Maintain setting displays, notices, and required records.
- Support quality assurance processes and implement actions identified by the Wraparound Childcare Area Manager.
- Ensure all staff follow safeguarding and compliance procedures.
Risk Assessment, Welfare & Health & Safety
- Ensure all risk assessments are followed and implemented effectively.
- Conduct daily safety checks of facilities, equipment, and activities.
- Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing for children and staff.
- Report and record accidents, incidents, and near misses in line with company procedures.
- Ensure first aid equipment is maintained and accessible.
- Promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all children attending the setting.
Food Hygiene & Medical Management
- Ensure food preparation and serving procedures meet food hygiene standards.
- Monitor food storage, cleanliness, and allergen management processes.
- Maintain accurate records relating to dietary requirements, allergies, and medical needs.
- Ensure medication is stored and administered in line with company procedures.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the setting.
- Support regular checks of food preparation areas and equipment.
Administration & Operational Support
- Complete all required administration linked to the setting's operation.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and operational documentation.
- Respond professionally to parent and school enquiries.
- Support occupancy monitoring and attendance reporting.
- Ensure organisational systems and records are maintained in line with company procedures.
- Communicate any operational concerns, resource requirements, or improvement opportunities to the Wraparound Childcare Area Manager.
Safeguarding, Welfare & Professional Standards
- Ensure all activities are delivered in line with safeguarding, health & safety, and company procedures.
- Follow safeguarding reporting procedures at all times and act appropriately on any welfare concerns.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and positive behaviour.
- Act as a positive role model for children and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

General/Other
- Build Strong Relationships: Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, schools, and other stakeholders.

Person Specification
Essential
- Experience working with children and young people in a childcare, education, sport, or community setting.
- Experience supervising activities, groups, volunteers, or staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, school staff, and colleagues.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child welfare responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a setting.
- Professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to work.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable
- Experience working within wraparound childcare provision.
- Experience leading after-school clubs, childcare settings, or children's activity programmes.
- Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and childcare regulations.
- Experience managing registers, compliance records, or operational documentation.
- Experience liaising with parents and school staff.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification.
- Safeguarding training.
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, Education, Sport, or a related field.

Working Pattern
- Part-time, term-time position.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 3pm-6pm (Halstead)
- Tuesday, Thursday: 7:30-9am (Braintree)
- Additional hours may be available through holiday camps, school programmes, training, or other company activities.
Pay: £14.00-£15.50 per hour
