Criminal Law Paralegal
Location: Derby
Job Type: Full-time | Temp to Perm (6-month contract)

A reputable and long-established law firm in Derby is seeking a Criminal Law Paralegal to join its criminal defence team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to build a career in criminal law.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with a varied caseload of criminal defence matters
- Working with both publicly and privately funded clients
- Drafting legal correspondence to clients and third parties
- Inputting and maintaining data on a specialist case management system
- Applying for Legal Aid on behalf of new clients
- Preparing court files for advocates
- Meeting clients in person and handling telephone enquiries
- Providing general support to solicitors and fee earners
Practice Areas Include:
- Magistrates Court Preparation
Requirements:
- LLB completed (essential)
- Previous experience within a Legal Aid firm (preferred)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to use initiative and work as part of a team
Additional Information:
- Police Station Accreditation offered upon successful completion of probation
- Full UK driving licence required
- Ability to travel and work unsociable hours once accredited
