Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon – Permanent Substantive Post
Applications are invited for the post of a permanent Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon based at the Great Western Hospital.
The Breast Centre is a friendly and forward thinking department with a fully digital environment with 4 Dimensions Hologic Mammography unit. The Breast Centre has also benefitted from the completion of the Radiotherapy Centre which has been opened in recent years. The Breast Centre is also an NHS Breast Screening unit.
The Breast team perform well overall in relation to the national Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) and Referral to Treatment standards (RTT).
The successful candidate will work within the Breast team and will join an existing team of three Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons and three Specialty Doctors. The Breast team are well supported by the wider Breast Multidisciplinary team (MDT) which includes Radiology, Radiography, Oncology and Clinical Nurse Specialist support.

Clinical Duties:
To provide a comprehensive Oncoplastic Breast Surgery service, and to provide continuing responsibility for care of patients
To continue to develop Breast surgery services appropriate to the strategic aims of the Trust.
To participate in the gold standard one stop Rapid Access Outpatients service for new referrals and also ongoing care Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care (with secretarial support)
Development of sub specialty interests that fit in with Directorate needs and the strategic direction of the Trust, including active participation in audit and development of new services if they fit within the
future planning, case mix and development of the department.
Provision of cover for Consultant colleagues’ periods of leave in accordance with arrangements agreed within Trust policy.
