Job Summary:
· The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and monitoring all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures across the organisation.
Duties:
· Support the group quality and safety manager with forming Policy & Compliance: Develop, review, and implement robust Health and Safety policies and procedures in line with current UK legislation and best practice.
· Risk Management: Conduct regular site inspections, support the management team with comprehensive risk assessments, and hazard analyses across all departments to identify potential hazards and recommend effective control measures.
· Auditing: Organise and carry out documented internal safety audits and reviews of the ISO management systems to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
· Incident Investigation: Assist the QSD team with Investigating all accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes, prepare necessary reports (including RIDDOR), and implement corrective and preventative actions.
· Training: Support the Quality and Safety Manager with regard to planning, coordinating, monitoring and delivering essential health and safety training programmes for all group employees, including inductions, manual handling, and specific risk training.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date H&S records including but not limited to: Training matrices, documentation, and the accident register.
· Liaison: Assist the group management teams with the running of the Health and Safety Committees.
· Continually review and implement organisational emergency response plans.
· Partake in monthly safety briefings with the wider management teams and union representatives where required.
· Manage and maintain a centralised system for all statutory compliance documentation (e.g., LOLER, PUWER, LEV testing, PAT testing, Fire Risk Assessment reports), ensuring all certification, inspection logs, and maintenance records are current and readily accessible for audits.
· Assist with fostering an organisation-wide culture of health and safety compliance.
· Remain up to date with legal and regulatory developments.
· Adhere to the requirements of the organisational management systems.
Qualifications and Skills
· Relevant experience within a senior H&S role would be advantageous.
· NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent professional certification is essential.
· Knowledge. Thorough understanding of relevant UK Health and Safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations, COSHH, and RIDDOR.
· Skills. Strong organisational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for training and engaging staff at all levels. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word).
