Energy Aspects is seeking a Head of LNG and EU gas to join our growing research team, based in either London or Singapore. This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior gas market professional with deep analytical expertise, strong commercial instincts, and a passion for delivering differentiated market intelligence to a sophisticated client base.
The Head of LNG and EU gas will lead the development of our LNG and EU gas market views, contributing to shaping the direction of our gas service. We are looking for someone who can run the team with the mindset of the analytics function of a trading desk: close to the market, highly responsive to new information, and in constant dialogue with industry and trading contacts. The role requires someone who is intellectually rigorous, commercially sharp, and able to translate fast-moving developments into clear, actionable insights for clients
A core focus of the role is to ensure our LNG and EU gas research output is timely, relevant, and decision-useful. This means leading the team to produce short, firm analysts of market-moving events, with speed of delivery a clear differentiator. Our reports, presentations, and client interactions should help market participants identify the most important developments, understand their implications, and spot the most compelling market opportunities. The successful candidate will bring substantial prior experience in global gas market analysis, alongside direct trading and/or industry experience. They will be expected to lead and develop short-term supply-demand balances, challenge and improve work across the team, and derive robust, defensible market and price views.
This is a senior leadership role in an entrepreneurial business operating in fast-evolving global energy markets. We are looking for someone who can spot opportunities early, generate new ideas for analysis and product development, and work collaboratively across teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to represent Energy Aspects confidently with clients and in the wider market. In return, we offer excellent remuneration, the opportunity to work with a highly engaged team of energy market specialists, and the chance to play a leading role in the continued growth of one of the industry’s most respected energy intelligence businesses.
- Lead the development of robust and defensible LNG import and export forecasts, EU gas balances, and market views.
- Maintain close dialogue with traders, industry participants, and other market contacts to test views, gather intelligence, and stay close to market developments.
- Translate fundamental analysis, market intelligence, and proprietary data into clear, actionable views for clients.
- Drive timely analysis of market-moving events, producing short, high-conviction views for clients at speed.
- Write both scheduled and ad hoc reports on the LNG and EU gas market, with a focus on supply-demand fundamentals, policy developments, pricing dynamics, and other key market drivers.
- Review, challenge, and improve the modelling and analytical work of colleagues across the London and Singapore gas team.
- Present Energy Aspects’ LNG and EU gas views to clients through presentations, conferences, webinars, and direct written responses.
- Represent Energy Aspects externally with the media and broader market.
- Significant experience analysing gas markets, with a strong ability to translate fundamental analysis into clear and defensible market and price views.
- Direct industry experience in gas, with trading desk experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-moving markets and respond quickly to market-moving developments.
- An established network of gas market contacts and a track record of maintaining active dialogue with market participants.
- Strong commercial judgement and a clear understanding of what matters most to traders and other sophisticated market participants.
- Strong technical skills (Excel, Python) and experience developing, running, and challenging supply-demand balances, forecasting frameworks, and quantitative models.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express complex views clearly, concisely, and with conviction.
- Strong leadership and collaborative skills, with the ability to guide, challenge, and develop colleagues.
- High level of written English.
Desirable skills
- Experience using proprietary or alternative datasets to generate differentiated market views.
- Experience contributing to the development of new datasets, analytical tools, or client products.
- Strong background in statistical, econometric, or quantitative analysis.
- Experience presenting market views at conferences, in client forums, and to the media.
- Fluency in a language other than English, particularly Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, Russian, or Turkish.
