Urban Transit Solutions is hiring Passenger Assistants urgently to support safe, reliable home-to-school and school-to-home transport for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Haringey.
This part-time role covers a morning school drop-off and an afternoon school pick-up during school term, with each journey taking approximately 1.5 hours. You will be collected from and returned to your home address in Haringey. You must be available for both daily journeys and provide calm, respectful, practical assistance to the child throughout the route.
Responsibilities:
- Meet the arranged vehicle promptly at your home address and accompany the child safely.
- Support boarding, alighting, seat belts, belongings and transitions within the agreed care plan and your training.
- Provide reassurance and appropriate assistance throughout the journey.
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, behaviour-support and incident-reporting procedures.
- Communicate professionally with the driver, family/carers, schools and Urban Transit Solutions.
- Report delays, concerns, incidents or changes immediately.
- Maintain professional boundaries and treat every child with dignity, patience and respect.
Essential requirements:
- Enhanced DBS clearance suitable for working with children, or willingness to obtain it before starting.
- You must live in Haringey because home pick-up and drop-off are provided from your address.
- Reliability, punctuality and availability for both morning and afternoon journeys during school terms.
- Ability to support children with SEND calmly and respectfully.
- Right to work in the UK and ability to complete required onboarding and safeguarding checks.
- Good communication skills and commitment to confidentiality.
Preferred:
- First aid training certificate.
- Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable passengers.
- Experience in education, care, transport or a similar role.
Urban Transit Solutions will provide safeguarding training before you begin. Immediate start is available for suitable applicants once checks, onboarding and approval are complete.
Pay: £250 per week (approximately 15 hours per week; equivalent to £16.67 per hour). No personal vehicle is required; transport is arranged with home collection and return in Haringey.
