The role at a glance
Recourse is evolving its finance and operations team to support a period of consolidation and
strategic development. Following the planned retirement of our Finance Adviser, we are
looking for a dedicated and collaborative Finance Officer to join our team. This role involves
financial administration and management, along with HR support, reporting to the Finance &
Operations Director and working alongside the part-time Finance Assistant (Accounts Payable).
What you will be doing
Financial management
● Process & policy support: Support and improve financial monitoring systems and
internal authorisation policies
● Controls: Prepare monthly accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations,
and supervise bank reconciliations.
● Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports (income & expenditure, balance sheets for
director review.
● Audit & compliance: Support audit preparation with schedules, reconciliations and
documentation for external auditors.
● Grant accounting: Manage grant budgets and support accurate donor reporting.
● Transaction oversight: Support internal financial processes.
● Payrolls: Coordinate with our payroll providers to process, check and file payroll,
manage payments, and oversee year-end processes. Note that Recourse has multiple
payrolls in different countries.
Human resources (HR) support
● Recruitment & onboarding: Support recruitment, including job descriptions, ads, and
onboarding/offboarding logistics.
● Records maintenance: Maintain confidential staff records, including leave tracking.
Operational strengthening
● Systems & workflows: Maintain cloud-based filing, manage the asset register, and
support internal workflows.
Who we are looking for
Essential:
● Finance experience: Proven experience in finance and administration within an
international non-profit organisation or charity setting (>2 years).
● HR proficiency: Demonstrated experience in HR support, record keeping, and
recruitment processes.
● Technical skills: High proficiency in Excel, online workspaces, Zoom, and accounting
software (e.g., QuickBooks Online).
● Education: AAT qualified, or part-qualified/working towards ACCA, CIMA or an
equivalent professional accounting qualification.
● Communication: Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-
financial colleagues.
● Independence & teamwork: Self-motivated, confident and dependable; you are
comfortable managing your own workload in a remote setting and maintaining strict
confidentiality, but you also know when to reach out and collaborate with the team.
Desirable:
● Project management: Familiarity with digital project management tools or workflow
systems to streamline processes.
● Language skills: Working language is English; Dutch and/or French would be useful.
